Anyone participate at all in this community? I know some of us are pretty good at certain games we play often. Even if you're not a competitive type, these races and streams can be fun to watch. I was kind of reminded of this by Ade and his Video Game Code of Honor, although, many of the runs done here do take advantage of certain frowned upon things; they also do legit/glitchless runs. Generally no TAS stuff like SpeedDemosArchive has plenty of, although the two communities are not surprisingly mixed together of many of the same people. Cosmo is someone most people seem to have heard of by now, he's one of the staff there, and he's usually entertaining to watch. I'm kind of excited for their season 2 to start seems like they have been working hard to continue to streamline the system, which is a rather innovative combination of IRC, Web Database, and Twitch.tv integration. www.speedrunslive.com

I don't have a "Code of Honor," but thanks for over-dramatizing my views -_-;
I just hate seeing the "wire frame" underneath the game. The game is supposed to suspend my disbelief and transport me to another reality. I don't want to see the framework of that reality. I'm sure the citizens of the Matrix would find a similar experience to be quite disruptive.
Those who fascinate themselves with the under-structure of the game aren't really game enthusiasts in a pure sense. The game is supposed to be a closed system. Although it is designed with imperfections, it is your duty as a gamer not to pull at the seams as to expose the sub-stratum. You aren't really playing a Pinball machine if you open it up and figure out how to rack up tons of points without hitting the ball. The same applies for sequence-breaking and other types of speed runs in conventional games.
I fully acknowledge speed runs that take place within the parameters of the game, but I find the "wire-framers" to be very dull and simple-minded; the typical "fuck authority and structure" mindset has played out over thousands of years. Although a particular exploit may be new and original, the disposition that seeks those exploits is not. There is a certain beauty is sticking rigorously to form; a gentleman's restraint is admirable.
